Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. - Theodore Roosevelt
Inspirational quote of the day by Theodore Roosevelt.
"I don't have the money", "I don't have the right contacts", "I don't have the time", "I don't have the qualifications", "I'm not smart enough".
It's easy to get caught up with thoughts that focus on what is lacking, and where we wish we could be. Realise however, that the perfect conditions will never come.
Make the best of your current situation. Tap into your creativity and problem solving skills and focus on what you can do, and take small steps towards your goals.
An excellent example is that of Chris Gardner. As portrayed in the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness", Chris a homeless single father without any money or help, struggled to make ends meet and look after his son. Instead of focusing on what he didn't have, he focused on what he could do. He had an opportunity to join a 6 month unpaid internship at a stock brokerage firm, with only a slim chance of succeeding, where only 1 person out of the 20 candidates would be accepted at the end. Chris accepted and applied himself with great determination and at the end, was offered a permanent position in the firm. From there he built a very successful career in finance, and eventually established his own brokerage firm.
Chris didn't have much, but he didn't focus on that. He started with the little he did have. You should too.
