Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground. - Theodore Roosevelt
Inspirational quote of the day by Theodore Roosevelt.
Dream big. Choose a long-term goal that inspires and excites you. This will give you a sense of direction and purpose in life and will give you the fuel you need to keep moving forward during difficult times.
On the other hand however, you also need to stay grounded in reality and be practical. Determine all the steps that are needed to achieve your goal, and work diligently to complete each step. When an obstacle arises, be flexible in your approach and adapt according to your current circumstances.
In other words, in order to achieve success, you need to have a vision but also be practical.
Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) was an American politician and statesman who served as the 26th president of the United States.
A good example of where Roosevelt applied this quote in his own life was during the construction of the Panama Canal. Roosevelt had a grand vision of connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans by creating a great canal. This was the dream.
The reality however, was challenging, and complex political and logistical obstacles were involved. Despite this, Roosevelt kept his feet firmly on the ground and overcame the diplomatic and engineering difficulties. It took ten years to complete the 48-mile Panama Canal, which was opened on February 23, 1904.
