Wayne Gretzky (1961), nicknamed "the Great One" is a legendary Canadian ice hockey player and former head coach. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL), holds 61 NHL records, and has been called the greatest ice hockey player by many players and sportswriters.

Gretzky was an impressive player in his teenage years, and when the opportunity arose to sign up with the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association (WHA), he took it. He was just 17 years old, and this was an unprecedented move.

A short time later, his contract was sold to the Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky and his team went on to win four Stanley Cups, and Gretzky's personal accomplishments included seven straight scoring titles and nine Hart Trophies.
